- History: Since SpongeBob was a baby he aways wanted to work at the Krusty Krab, so when he was sixteen he was able to apply for a job as the fry cook. Mr. Krabs told him if he wanted the job, he would have too get a special spatula, but Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob's neighbor Squidward Tentacles who worked as the cashier both laughed at SpongeBob when he left. Suddenly Mr. Krabs smelt anchovies and hundreds of them filled the Krusty Krab head to toe. Mr. Krabs and Squidward both thought it was the end, until SpongeBob came with the new spatula and cooked his first ever batch of Krabby Patties. Mr. Krabs immediately gave him the job as soon as the anchovies were gone. SpongeBob finally achieved his life's goal as fry cook of the Krusty Krab.

SpongeBob is a yellow sea sponge with blue eyes with three eyelashes on each eye, he has cheeks that are outlined in red as well as his chen. He wears a white shirt with a red tie, brown pants, white socks with red and blue lines and black shoes.
He is shown in various episodes to have bones, where real sea sponges do not.
He resembles more of cleaning sponge than a sea sponge.

SpongeBob's name was originally SpongeBoy, but due to it being copyrighted by a mop company, Stephen Hillenburg changed it. He still wanted the name to have "Sponge" in it, so he decided on SpongeBob which was a similar name from his unpublished comic book, The Intertidal Zone's Bob the Sponge.
